Despite fitness doubts, Chelsea defender spotted with travelling squad for Leicester clash

Chelsea defender Thiago Silva was spotted alongside the rest of the club’s squad this evening, as the Blues began their journey to the East Midlands.

Pensioners thriving

Thomas Tuchel’s men are of course set to return to action in less than 24 hours’ time.

In the first Premier League serving post-international break, Chelsea will make the trip to the King Power Stadium, for a showdown with struggling Leicester City.

The visitors head into the clash aiming to build further on a fine start to the campaign, which currently sees them sitting pretty atop the English top-flight table.

Across their eleven outings thus far, Tuchel and co. have rattled off eight wins, finding the net a hefty 27 times, whilst conceding just four.

In turn, it may come as something of a surprise to those unaware to hear that Chelsea will actually take to the pitch against Leicester in search of a bounce-back result, having been held to a disappointing 1-1 stalemate by Burnley last time out.

Silva boost

Speaking earlier today ahead of his side’s return to action, though, Thomas Tuchel admitted that a number of his key performers will be unavailable to play their part in Chelsea’s efforts to return to winning ways.

Both Romelu Lukaku and Mateo Kovacic have been ruled out of proceedings on Saturday, whilst Timo Werner will only be fit enough to take his place on the bench.

Thiago Silva, meanwhile, was labelled as a doubt, owing to a late return from international duty with Brazil:

‘He has some travel in his body and some time differences, so let’s see how this works out.’

As alluded to above, though, on Friday evening, an altogether positive update when it comes to Silva’s chances of featuring at the King Power has been forthcoming online.

As per the reliable Sam Inkersole, the veteran stopper was spotted alongside the rest of Tuchel’s troops who began their journey to Leicester a short time ago:
