Dean Smith provides Aston Villa squad fitness update ahead of Arsenal

Dean Smith

Dean Smith has, on Monday, moved to provide a fitness update on his Aston Villa squad ahead of their meeting with Arsenal.

Aston Villa vs Arsenal

Tuesday’s late Premier League kick-off will see Aston Villa play host to Arsenal.

The tie, of course, is a must-win for Villa – who currently find themselves staring relegation in the face.

As of writing, the Midlands-based outfit sit three points adrift of 17th-placed Watford.

Villa also have a worse goal difference than the Hornets, meaning a loss vs the Gunners would all but seal their fate for the 2019/20 campaign.

And whilst the Claret and Blue have improved slightly recently, picking up four points from their last two outings, it is hard to see them getting anything from a meeting with Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta’s men have been in sensational form of late, picking up back-to-back wins over Premier League champions Liverpool and Manchester City.

Aston Villa team news

Ahead of what is a must-win tie for Villa, Dean Smith held his latest press conference on Monday.

During the presser, Smith would provide a fitness update on his squad.

And, for the most part, it was good news for the relegation battlers.

Kortney Hause is back in training, and apart from Neil Taylor, who is struggling with a hamstring issue, Villa are ‘okay’:

“We have Kortney Hause back, he trained yesterday and he will train again today, but Neil Taylor is still struggling with his hamstring.

“Other than that, we’re okay.”
