David Moyes provides Michail Antonio update ahead of West Ham’s meeting with Brighton

West Ham United boss David Moyes has this evening provided an update on the fitness of sidelined attacker Michail Antonio.

Irons downed

Moyes’ Hammers are of course fresh off the back of a disappointing derby defeat on Monday night.

The capital outfit made the trip to Stamford Bridge, for a Premier League meeting with Chelsea.

West Ham, to their credit, enjoyed the better of lengthy stretches over the 90 minutes, dominating both possession and territory.

When all was said and done, however, a lack of cutting edge cost the visitors dear, as goals from Thiago Silva and Tammy Abraham eventually guided Chelsea to an altogether flattering 3-0 win.

‘Back on the grass’

West Ham’s lack of finished product on Monday of course came with star forward Michail Antonio having once again played no part.

The 30-year-old has now not featured in any of the Irons’ last 4 Premier League outings, since being forced off with a hamstring problem during the club’s meeting with Aston Villa late last month.

And though Sebastien Haller, to his credit, has stepped up in his absence, Antonio has nevertheless been sorely missed, with Moyes’ men having managed just a solitary win during his time on the sidelines.

As such, speaking in a press conference ahead of his side’s upcoming meeting with Brighton, the West Ham boss was today inevitably drawn on Antonio’s fitness.

And Moyes went on to confirm that though the former Nottingham Forest man has in fact returned to the grass, his exact return date remains up in the air:
