Cristiano Ronaldo has urged Real Madrid not to sack manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The Italian has been widely tipped to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season after the club came up short in both La Liga and the Champions League.
Ronaldo’s backing would appear to be futile as this stage as Napoli boss, and former Liverpool manager, Rafa Benitez is expected to be announced as Ancelotti’s successor on Monday.

But Ronaldo, who scored his eighth hat-trick of the season as Madrid crushed Getafe 7-3 on Saturday, said he wanted to continue working with Ancelotti.
Madrid’s star man posted a picture of the pair together on Twitter, accompanied by the message: ‘Great coach and amazing person. Hope we work together next season.’
After the game, Ancelotti told Real’s website: ‘I am not going to say anything more than I said yesterday. I have to wait.
‘We are going to meet next week to discuss my future at the club. Nobody is in a rush.
‘The club are calmly thinking about what they have to do in order to take the right decision and I am waiting because I am not in a hurry’.
