Concern for England as Bukayo Saka emerges as a doubt for Ukraine clash

England have, on Friday, been dealt a blow on the personnel front, following confirmation that Bukayo Saka has picked up a ‘knock’.

Ukraine lie in wait

Gareth Southgate’s men will of course return to action in 24 hours’ time.

The Three Lions are set to make the trip to the Stadio Oimpico, for a Euro 2020 quarter-final showdown with Ukraine.

The former will head into proceedings with their tails up, on the back of a morale-boosting 2-0 downing of old foes Germany in the Round-of-16.

Ukraine, on the other hand, only managed to make it out of the country’s group by the skin of their teeth, before scraping past a plucky Sweden side courtesy of a last-gasp winner last time out.

As such, it goes without saying that it is England who will be viewed as widespread favourites to eventually book the nation’s spot in the Euros’ Final-4 on Saturday night.

Gunners starlet struggling

As outlined above, though, ahead of getting their campaign back underway, the Three Lions, this evening, have been dealt something of a blow.

This comes in the form of confirmation that Bukayo Saka – whose stellar exploits versus the Czech Republic culminated in a start against Germany last time out – has picked up a fitness problem.

Speaking in a press conference a short time ago, Gareth Southgate confirmed the news, admitting that Arsenal’s gifted young wide-man is suffering with a ‘slight knock’.

Saka’s participation tomorrow evening, in turn, has been thrown up in the air, with the 19-year-old set for a late fitness test ahead of the action getting underway at the Olimpico.
