Claims of big-money Chelsea bid for Declan Rice shut down/Havertz latest

Updates on Chelsea’s pursuits of a pair of rumoured transfer targets have been forthcoming online this evening.

Chelsea hard at work

On the back of a somewhat hit-and-miss campaign, which eventually saw the Blues clinch an all-important top-4 spot, a squad overhaul of sorts is expected at Chelsea this summer.

To make room for a potential rake of fresh faces, the likes of Emerson Palmieri, Marcos Alonso, Antonio Rudiger, Jorginho, Kepa Arrizabalaga and even N’Golo Kante have all been tipped to move on.

Willian and Pedro Rodriguez, meanwhile, have both already departed, following the expiration of their respective contracts.

The transfer chiefs in southwest London, though, have been equally as active on the additions front, with high-profile attackers Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech having of course already linked up with Frank Lampard’s squad.

Blues latest

This, though, is expected to be just the beginning when it comes to arrivals at Stamford Bridge this summer.

And, as outlined above, updates on another pair of players hotly-tipped to make the move to Chelsea over the coming weeks have this evening been forthcoming.

First comes the Blues’ long-standing priority target, Kai Havertz.

The update comes courtesy of the highly reliable Fabrizio Romano, with the Italian transfer expert having confirmed that Chelsea are ready to reopen talks with Bayer Leverkusen imminently.

It is also added that those in a position of power at the club are ‘confident’ of thrashing out a deal:

Next up comes the latest on Declan Rice’s future.

In something of a bolt from the blue earlier today, reports began to do the rounds that Chelsea had tabled a £50 million offer for West Ham’s midfield starlet.

Such claims, however, have since been definitively shut down:
