Burnley have today been handed a timely boost on the injury front, ahead of the club’s upcoming meeting with Newcastle United.
Burnley vs Newcastle
Sean Dyche’s men are set to return to Premier League action on Saturday afternoon, with a trip to St. James’ Park.
The Clarets will head into proceedings amid a fine spell of form of late.
Their 3-0 drubbing of Bournemouth at the weekend came as Burnley’s 4th league win in 5, a run which has seen the Turf Moor outfit climb 13 points clear of the relegation zone, and into the top-half of the English top-flight table.
Burnley’s opponents this weekend, on the other hand, are currently in the midst of a less-than impressive stretch.
Steve Bruce’s Newcastle have failed to pick up 3 points in any of their last 4 Premier League outings.
This has seen the Magpies slip to 14th in the English top-flight.
Wood to return?
As such, Burnley will no doubt be confident of carrying their upturn in form beyond this weekend, by picking up at least a point at St. James’ Park.
And, as outlined above, the Clarets’ hopes of doing so have today been boosted by some positive news on the personnel front.
Footage of the club’s latest training session was posted across Burnley’s social media platforms earlier today.
In this footage, star striker Chris Wood can be seen working alongside the rest of Sean Dyche’s squad.
New Zealand international Wood was forced off during the Clarets’ 2-1 win at Southampton two weekends ago, and subsequently missed his side’s meeting with Bournemouth last time out.
The 28-year-old, though, looks set for a swift return to action, with Wood likely to be in contention to feature from the off at St. James’ Park on Sunday.
