Bruno Fernandes: Cristiano Ronaldo made it a dream to play for Man United

Fernandes on Cristiano Ronaldo

Manchester United secured the services of Sporting standout Bruno Fernandes in January.

The Red Devils are understood to have paid an initial fee of around £46.6m for Fernandes.

Since making the switch to Manchester, Fernandes has made three appearances across all competitions.

The usually free-scoring midfielder has yet to open his account for United. But it is quite clear when you watch Fernandes that he provides a quality that was previously lacking in Man United’s midfield.

Fernandes is, of course, an international teammate of former Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo and like Ronaldo, he joined United from Sporting.

The United faithful will also likely be hoping that Fernandes can emulate Ronaldo’s success with the Manchester-based club.

Now, in a recent interview, Fernandes has been speaking about Ronaldo, stating the now Juventus star made it a dream to play for Man United:

“I’m a Cristiano Ronaldo fan and he’s a player I’ve always followed.

“When Cristiano burst on to the scene here in Manchester, he spent a good chunk of his early career here and enjoyed so much success.

“That’s why it was a dream of mine to play for Manchester United and I’m very pleased to be here because it’s a childhood dream come true.

“I think any player who joins Manchester United wants to win everything; I want to win every competition that Manchester United compete in.

“I’m an ambitious player who wants success and I want to win every game in every competition we’re in.” As quoted by Sky Sports News.

Man United vs Watford

After coming off the bench for just nine minutes in midweek, you would imagine Fernandes will be in from the get-go on Sunday.

Man United will play host to Watford as they look to regain some ground on 4th place, Chelsea.

The Blues saw off Tottenham in Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off, putting them six points clear of United.

As for Watford, they began the weekend 19th in the PL, two points from safety.
