Brendan Rodgers confirms James Maddison will miss Leicester’s meeting with Slavia Prague

Leicester City vs Slavia Prague

Leicester City will play host to Czech outfit Slavia Prague in the second of two Europa League clashes on Thursday.

The Foxes travelled to Prague last week for their away leg, but were unable to break down their opponents.

Leicester did also keep Slavia’s attack quiet, but it now means that due to away goals, Slavia can actually progress to the last-16 by picking up just a 1-1 draw at the King Power on Thursday evening.

Brendan Rodgers on James Maddison

Ahead of Thursday’s meeting, Brendan Rodgers held his latest pre-match press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

During the presser, Rodgers would provide an update on James Maddison.

The midfielder has been in fine form of late, and scored a key goal at the weekend as the East Midlands outfit picked up a victory over Aston Villa which leaves them sitting joint-second in the Premier League.

However, Maddison was also taken off during that win, with what Brendan Rodgers confirmed post-match to be a recurrence of a previous hip issue.

And when speaking about him on Wednesday, Rodgers stated that Maddison will miss the Europa League meeting and is in contact with specialists:

“He won’t be available for the game, he’s in contact with doctors and specialists.”
