Boca Juniors targeting Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira

Wanted Man

Arsenal’s Lucas Torreira is a target for Argentinian power house Boca Juniors, according to ESPN.

The Uruguayan is currently on a season long loan at Atletico Madrid and seems to be well down the pecking order at Arsenal,  and seems unfancied by Mikel Arteta.

He has only started 3 La Liga games in Madrid and it is likely he will be sent back to north London, possibly with a title winning medal.

He does have two years left on his Arsenal contract, but he has failed to live up to expectations after joining from Sampdoria for a fee believed to be £26 million.

He has spoken in the past of his love for the Boca and that he one day dreams of playing at La Bombonera. He gave an interview with ESPN in Uruguay in which he discussed the club.

“This love for Boca was born many years ago. We are a very soccer family and Uruguayans consume a lot from Argentina, we watch that football a lot and I have been passionate about Boca from a very young age, I like the Boca world.”

Torreira suffered personal tragedy yesterday when his mother fell victim to Covid19.

10 games to make mark

There are reports that Torreira is one of a number of players who only has 10 games to prove his worth to Atletico.

His loan does not come with an option to buy, which means if they want to keep the player, they will have to negotiate, who may be a willing partner.

It is looking unlikely they will want to keep the player and he only has a short amount of time to prove his worth.

If he ends up returning to north London, perhaps Boca could end up being a viable destination.
