‘Best player on the pitch: Leeds attacker widely hailed despite Tottenham defeat

One member of Leeds United’s squad has been singled out for widespread praise this evening, on the back of the club’s meeting with Tottenham Hotspur.

Reguilon makes the difference

Marcelo Bielsa of course led his troops back into action a short time ago.

In the final of the weekend’s Premier League fixtures, Leeds made the trip to north London, for a highly-anticipated showdown with the aforementioned Tottenham.

The Whites headed into proceedings aiming to build on a much-needed upturn in form prior to the international break, which saw them rattle off two wins and two draws across five fixtures.

When all was said and done on Sunday, however, Bielsa and co. were brought firmly back down to earth.

Despite impressing throughout much of the clash, particularly during the opening 45 minutes, Leeds were ultimately condemned to a 5th league defeat of the season.

After Dan James opened the scoring for the visitors late in the first-half, Spurs came roaring back following the interval, levelling things up courtesy of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, before netting the game’s telling goal twenty minutes from time, through Sergio Reguilon:

James hailed

As outlined above, though, amid an otherwise frustrating day’s work for Leeds when it came to the eventual result in north London, those watching on from home could not help but be impressed by the individual display of one member of Marcelo Bielsa’s squad in particular.

The player in question? Dan James.

Wide-man James, who of course made the big-money move to Elland Road from Manchester United during the summer, has thus far majorly struggled to live up to his price-tag.

Up against Spurs, though, James looked a threat throughout, surging up and down the right flank with tenacity and intent.

The Welshman even managed to chip in with his first goal in Leeds’ colours, with his fine showing, all told, having since given rise to quite the reaction across social media:
