Chelsea on the up

Chelsea endured a slow start to the campaign, perhaps due to issues with integrating so many new faces into the club’s squad.

However, in recent weeks, Frank Lampard appears to have finally found the formula to best utilise his new-look side.

A switch to a 4-3-3, with N’Golo Kante deep and Mason Mount alongside one of Kai Havertz or Mateo Kovacic as an ‘8’, appears to be the way forward for the Blues.

The likes of Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva have also thoroughly impressed of late.

This, in turn, has seen Chelsea climb to 5th in the Premier League table, having conceding just one goal in their last six outings across all competitions.

Chilwell backs Chelsea to shine

Such impressive form, combined with the star names now plying their trade at Stamford Bridge, will no doubt excite the Chelsea faithful regarding things to come.

The Londoners haven’t been a dominant force domestically or in Europe for several seasons now, with the club’s last league title having come back in 2017.

However, the likes of Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Ben Chilwell should all go on to play central roles in pushing Chelsea back towards their former glories.

One man certainly of the opinion that the Blues are on the up, meanwhile, is the aforementioned Chilwell.

The full-back recently voiced the opinion that Frank Lampard’s side will go on to secure ‘a lot of silverware’ over the coming years:

“But I feel like I needed a new challenge in my career. Chelsea are one of the biggest teams in Europe, and with the players that were brought in, I was eager at 23 years old to come and try help this team win trophies.

“Talking to a lot of the other boys that have come in, they are saying the same. If you look at the way we’ve been playing the last month, if we keep working hard, then over the next year, two, three, four, five years, we can win a lot of silverware.”
