Bayern Munich and France winger Franck Ribery has been hit by a setback in his bid to recover from an ankle injury that has seen him ruled out of action since March 11.
The club revealed on their website that Ribery hoped to return to action by July 1 after receiving non-surgical therapy, but it has not been unsuccessful.
‘Conservative therapy has not delivered the desired result. Therefore an immobilisation of the right ankle was carried out,’ Bayern said.

Franck Ribery has not played for Bayern Munich since injuring his ankle in the Champions League in March

Ribery hoped to be back training by July 1 but those hopes have been curtailed by his latest setback

Ribery is set for a longer than anticipated spell on the sidelines as he waits for his ankle to heal
‘We support Franck in this healing process and hope that he can return to the court soon,’ club director Matthias Sammer added.
It is unknown how much longer the 32-year-old Ribery will be out for with the injury that was sustained in the Champions League second leg against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Ribery has endured a troublesome 12 months with injuries, after missing out on the 2014 World Cup for France with a back problem.
