Bayern Munich duo Niklas Sule and Leon Goretzka set to miss Champions League trip to PSG

Duo Out

There seems to be more bad news for Bayern Munich, following on from last night’s defeat to PSG, their first at home in the Champions League in 19 games in the competition.

According to Bild Niklas Sule is set to miss two to three weeks due to a torn fiber in his thigh.  Leon Goretzka may also miss a similar amount of time, with a strain in his thigh. Both picked up their respective muscle injuries and had to be substituted in the first half last night in the snow.

Bayern manager, Hans Flick said after the game that “Both of them are muscular injuries. We assume that they will not be able to be there at the weekend. The tests will show how long they will be out.”

There is a small glimmer of hope that Goretzka may still make it, but the next five days will be key in his recovery and if he doesn’t make significant steps to healing, he will miss the game next week.

With Robert Lewandowski and Serge Gnarby also likely to miss next weeks second leg, Munich will be hoping that they come through this weekend unscathed.

Killer instinct missing

Bayern Munich’s Thomas Muller scored his side’s second goal last night but spoke to Sky Sports post match about his side’s lack of killer instinct.

“We need to score significantly more goals. Of course, you can always discuss conceding goals, but I think if it ends 6-3 for us, then nobody can complain.”

“That’s the way it is now, we’ve laid the egg in our own nest. And now we have to chase the deficit, that’s for sure.”

“We didn’t really allow that much. If we showed the killer instinct that often distinguishes us, we would have seen a completely different game.”

“It’s also clear that you can never completely shut down Paris offensive.. we have an attacking approach, that’s why we score a lot of goals, that’s why we win a lot of games and today we missed a lot of big chances.”

Hansi Flick tipped for Germany job as Bayern could be left searching for a new coach again

Advantage PSG as they play out a classic with Bayern Munich
