Neymar joins PSG
Neymar spent four years plying his trade with FC Barcelona.
During that period the Brazilian cemented himself as one of world football’s brightest stars.
Neymar would score 105 and assist 76 in 186 outings for the Catalonian giants whilst also winning the Champions League and several league titles.
However, despite making up one-third of arguably the most deadly attack in Europe alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, Neymar opted to depart the Camp Nou in 2017.
The winger would join Ligue 1 powerhouse PSG in a world-record €222m deal.
Barcelona overpaid Neymar
Neymar’s career has since stagnated somewhat in the French capital, with PSG still, despite heavy investment in the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, yet to clinch a Champions League trophy.
Neymar’s struggles in Paris have led to quite heavy speculation that the now 28-year-old could return to Barcelona. Neymar has just under two years left on his current deal.
However, if recent reports from Spain are to be believed, then the relationship between Barcelona and the PSG star is likely to be strained over the next few months.
As per the Daily Mail, citing Spanish outlet El Mundo, Barcelona are suing Neymar for a total of £9m after they are said to have overpaid the Brazilian during his first two years in Spain via a tax miscalculation.
This is not the first time Barca and Neymar have locked horns over a monetary dispute, with Neymar claiming in the past that the club owed him a total of £38m in unpaid bonuses.
However, Neymar lost that case and was forced to pay the Blaugrana £5.9m.
But this time around, according to the Mail, the Tax Agency have notified Barca that if the situation is not solved, the £9m would simply be seen as a ‘donation’ from the club to Neymar.
