Arsenal’s interest in Donny van de Beek dismissed by transfer expert

Van de Beek struggling for minutes

Donny van de Beek signed for Man United during the delayed summer window, setting the Red Devils back around £35m.

Van de Beek had spent his previous years impressing with Ajax, and at £35m, looked a fairly decent buy for Man United.

However, despite the midfielder being signed under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s watch, the Norwegian refused to hand the 24-year-old any sort of regular game-time throughout 2020/21.

Van de Beek made 19 Premier League appearances, but just three of those saw him complete 90 minutes – and even at that, two of these outings came right at the end of the campaign when United had nothing left to play for.

Arsenal not interested in Donny van de Beek

So, with the summer window now open, it has not been all that surprising to see van de Beek’s future at Old Trafford called into question, despite the Dutchman still having four years left to run on his contract.

The club chiefly linked with the former Ajax have bene Arsenal, with a report last week explaining that the Gunners have made contact with United over the future of the midfielder.

However, an update on the situation from Fabrizio Romano suggests that this may actually not be the case.

Romano reports that there have been no talks between Arsenal, Manchester United or the agents of Van de Beek.

He adds that whilst Arsenal will sign a new midfielder, there’s nothing going on for Van de Beek at the moment:

Elsewhere, on the Arsenal midfield front, the north Londoners have been linked with Sambi Lokonga, which you can read more about here.
