Arsenal need a rebuild

Despite an FA Cup and Community Shield win during his first season at the club, Arsenal’s decline has continued under Mikel Arteta’s management.

The Gunners are languishing in midtable in the Premier League and look set to miss out on European football for the first time since before Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal, to stop their ongoing decline, have been undergoing something of a rebuild over the last year or so, as they attempt to fix years and years of poor decisions on the transfer front.

Players such as Mesut Ozil, Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis have already been shifted out in an attempt to remove some deadwood from the squad, whilst there have been some promising players brought in of late, including Gabriel and Thomas Partey.

That rebuild, though, does not look to be over yet.

Speaking recently, Mikel Arteta hinted that certain players can only reach a certain level and that if Arsenal want to evolve, they would likely need to be changes:

“Finding a different way to do it, challenging them again, putting somebody next to them to try to push them again.

“Some of them can get to a certain level and you cannot push any further. If you want to evolve that, it’s not possible.”

Arsenal players who want to leave?

Now, some insight into some of the players who could depart the Emirates this summer has been provided.

According to a report from The Athletic, staff are under the impression that at least five senior Arsenal players want to leave the club.

Those players are said to be Willian, David Luiz, Bernd Leno, Granit Xhaka and Hector Bellerin:

It is, however, worth mentioning that Leno recently came out on claimed he was happy at Arsenal, whilst adding that no player wants to leave the club:

“I am still happy at Arsenal. Arsenal is still a big club, a big name in the world and in the Premier League.

“There is nobody in the dressing room who says ‘I want to leave the club, I am not happy here anymore’.
