Arsenal ‘likely’ to be without Kieran Tierney vs Man City but Portugal internationals won’t have to quarantine on return to UK

Updates on a number of Premier League players set to return to England in the coming days have been provided on Thursday.

Ronaldo tests positive for Covid-19

The headline news in the footballing world on Wednesday was, of course, that Cristiano Ronaldo had tested positive for Covid-19.

The forward is now undergoing a period of isolation which will see him miss several games for Juventus.

On the back of news that Ronaldo has tested positive for coronavirus, there was no doubt concern amongst Premier League managers and fans that their players would now be forced to self-isolate given that Ronaldo, along with the rest of the Portuguese national team, were pictured sat together the evening before his positive test.

Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo was even sat right next to Ronaldo in said picture.

However, according to the Telegraph, Cancelo or any of the other Premier League players currently on duty with Portugal will not have to quarantine on their return to England.

Tierney likely to miss Man City clash

This news will come as somewhat baffling to Arsenal and their fans.

The reason for this being that Kieran Tierney has been forced into self-isolation after being identified as a close contact of Southampton’s Stuart Armstrong, who recently tested positive for the virus.

As per the Telegraph, Tierney has since tested negative for Covid-19 and has adhered to all social distancing regulations.

Despite this, the full-back is still reportedly likely to miss Arsenal’s clash with Manchester City this weekend.
