Arsenal handed James Maddison boost as Locatelli edges closer to Juventus

Arsenal transfer news – Another Left back identified as Maddison links intensify

In this article we will bring you all of today’s Arsenal transfer news. Make sure to check back tomorrow for more updates.

Arsenal target another left-back

Arsenal have already signed cover for Kieran Tierney this summer, bringing in youngster Nuno Tavares from Benfica earlier in the window.

However, as per the Evening Standard, the Gunners are now considering further reinforcement in the position, with Hibernian’s Josh Doig remaining on the radar.

According to the report, they will face competition from West Ham for the Scotsman’s signature, with Moyes’ side also looking for full-back cover.

However, neither side at present appear willing to meet the 5 million pound asking price that Hibs have set, with a fee of around 2.5 million pounds the maximum that either club would be willing to offer, though this may change as the window rolls on.

Maddison links continue to intensify

Ahead of the summer window, James Maddison moving to north London appeared nothing more than a pipe dream, with all at Arsenal focused on Martin Odegaard.

However, the Norweigan may remain at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, meaning Mikel Arteta and co. have been forced to seek out alternative targets.

One of those is the Leicester City man, who has impressed in his two seasons with the midlands club.

And according to freelance journalist Pete O’Rourke, a transfer may be possible, with the Gunners having “been given encouraging signs” that a deal can be agreed for the 24-year-old.

Such a signing would certainly represent a statement of intent from Arsenal, who have recorded back to back 8th-placed finishes in the Premier League. Could Maddison be the missing piece in the club’s attack?

Locatelli edging towards Juventus

As speculation surrounding Maddison intensifies, links to Manuel Locatelli seem to be quietening down. Arsenal have been linked with a move for the Sassuolo midfielder in the case that Juventus cannot stump up the required cash for the Italian, with Sassuolo’s CEO having even gone on record to confirm that the Gunners have made a bid.

According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato, however, Sassuolo are prepared to accept Juventus’ latest offer, comprising of a 2-year loan for Locatelli with an obligation to buy.

For Arsenal, it may be time to move onto new targets.
