Arsenal blow: Youngster Folarin Balogun ‘set to exit’ following breakdown in contract talks

As per a report from reliable Arsenal reporter David Ornstein, Folarin Balogun is set to be sold this summer, ahead of the expiration of his contract in a years’ time.

Gunners starlet

18-year-old attacker Balogun has long been viewed as one of the most promising young talents on Arsenal’s books.

The New York native is a product of the north Londoners’ youth system, with his goalscoring exploits over recent seasons having begun to catch the eye.

As per football.london, Balogun notched a goal every 62 minutes with Arsenal’s U18s in 2018/19, a key factor in the club’s title win.

This was followed by a further 10 goals and 4 assists across 15 appearances in the Premier League 2 this season.

‘Set to exit’

Such impressive form, meanwhile, has unsurprisingly seen Balogun tipped for a bright future at the Emirates.

Suggestions had even circulated that the teenage hitman was on track to be introduced to Mikel Arteta’s first-team setup next season.

As outlined above, though, if the latest media speculation is to be believed, then Balogun’s future in fact looks set to lie away from north London.

According to the reliable David Ornstein of the Athletic, in a major blow for the Gunners, contract talks between club and player have reached an impasse.

As such, with the English youth international’s current deal, signed in February of last year, set to expire in the summer of 2021, Arsenal have decided to sell now, rather than risk losing Balogun on a free transfer.

Those in a position of power at the Emirates have therefore informed their goalscoring youngster that he will be moved on over the coming months.
