Antonio Conte’s options set for boost as long-term Tottenham absentee returns to contention befoe Leeds

Word stemming from the English media on Monday evening has pointed towards an imminent return to action for one of the long-term absentees at Tottenham Hotspur.

Whites up next

Spurs, alongside the rest of the Premier League’s clubs, are of course set to get their campaign back underway this coming weekend.

On the back of the international break coming to its long-awaited close, the Lilywhites will welcome Leeds United to north London, for a Premier League showdown.

Sunday’s hosts head into the clash having of course been buoyed by the much-talked about arrival of Antonio Conte on the club’s bench, owing to an altogether underwhelming opening to the campaign under the watch of Nuno Espirito Santo.

And Conte will be hopeful of maintaining his unbeaten start to life in the Tottenham dugout up against Leeds, on the back of a Conference League downing of NS Mura, followed by a Premier League stalemate with Everton in his first two outings in charge.

Sessegnon incoming

Ahead of Sunday’s return to action, meanwhile, as alluded to above, Spurs’ new boss also looks set to be boosted by a timely return on the personnel front.

The player inching towards a return? Ryan Sessegnon.

Youngster Sessegnon has not featured since the end of August, owing to a hamstring injury picked up whilst on international duty with England’s U21s.

As revealed by Sky Sports on Monday, though, the ex-Fulham prodigy is primed for an imminent return to first-team training, and could even be available for selection to face Leeds.

News of Sessegnon’s comeback will no doubt be met with excitement on the part of the Lilywhites faithful, with the 21-year-old, who has endured a trying stint in north London to date, tipped to come good in Antonio Conte’s 5-at-the-back system.
