Antonio Conte drops hints over formation and trusted Tottenham stars with strong debut XI vs Vitesse

The starting line-up opted for by newly-named Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte this evening has drummed up plenty of interest on the part of the club’s supporters.

Vitesse showdown

Spurs are of course set to return to action shortly.

On the back of the dismissal of now ex-boss Nuno Espirito Santo, the Lilywhites will get their endeavours on the continent back underway, in a Europa Conference League meeting with Dutch outfit Vitesse in north London.

The clash marks an altogether important one when it comes to the hosts’ hopes of progression to the knockout rounds of the competition, with Tottenham, as things stand, sitting 3rd in the Group G table.

This comes on the back of a 1-0 defeat in their most recent Conference League outing, in the Netherlands versus none other than tonight’s opponents.

As such, it goes without saying that the Lilywhites’ stars will be keen to return to winning ways on Thursday, in a bid to gain early favour with their new manager.

Kane & Son start

And, if the first-ever Tottenham XI selected by Antonio Conte is anything to go by, then the Italian, evidently, is not taking the fast-approaching action in the English capital at all lightly himself.

In something of a signal of intent, the former Chelsea and Juventus boss has opted for a strong line-up, featuring just one change to the one which took to the pitch in the Premier League last weekend.

The likes of Hugo Lloris, Cristian Romero, Heung-min Son and Harry Kane are all in from the off, as, to the delight of the Spurs faithful, is youngster Oliver Skipp.

On the flip-side, both Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso are forced to make do with a spot on the bench.

It is not yet clear exactly what system the hosts are set to line out in, but the assumption is that Spurs will adopt either a 3-4-3 or 3-5-2, in a potential early hint at Conte’s plans for the weeks and months ahead:
