Lionel Messi had a hand in all three goals as Barcelona claimed a 3-1 victory over Juventus in the Champions League final. Sportsmail’s Pete Jenson rated the players’ performances in Berlin.
Barcelona (4-3-3)
Ter Stegen 7
Did what he had to do with confidence and showed good distribution too.
Alves 7
A threat down the right but should have scored when played in by Suarez in the first half
Pique 8
A leader at the back guarding against complacency whenever Barça relaxed.
Mascherano 7
Very nervous early on but changed his boots when the rest of his team-mates were celebrating Rakitic goal and improved for that moment on.

Alba 7
Helped make the goal and was always a threat down the left but struggled at times defending against Morata.
Rakitic 8
The hero of last season’s Europa League final and stepped up to the Champions League stage with a fine finish past Buffon.
Busquets 7
Flustered at times by Vidal. But for the most part protected his centre-backs.
Iniesta 8.5
Everyone froze when he received the ball inside the area on four minutes and he found Rakitic for the opening goal. Voted the official man of the match by a UEFA committee.

Barca ace Messi was not at his brilliant best but he was still too good for the Juventus defence
Messi 8.5
It was his crossfield pass that started the move for the first goal and he made the second goal with a fine run and shot.
Suarez 8
Missed the chances that would have ended the game as a contest much sooner but came good with the goal that wins Barcelona their fifth European Cup.
Neymar 8
Always a threat and was instrumental in the first goal. Could easily have forced an early penalty and scored a second if not for his handball.

Juventus (4-4-2)
Buffon 8
Majestic one-handed save to deny Dani Alves and again late on the first half to prevent Suarez scoring. Not at fault for the goals.
Lichtsteiner 6
Had trouble with Neymar throughout and was lucky not to give away a first half penalty when he handled a Neymar cross.
Barzaglia 7
Steady despite Barca pressure. The best of Juventus’ defenders.

Bonucci 7
Did well to contain Suarez for the first half hour but allowed the Uruguayan more into the game as time passed.
Evra 6
No shortage of experience but found it difficult to deal with Messi and was unable to add anything going forward.
Marchisio 7
Juventus had scored six times from outside the area in his tournament and he tested keeper Ter Stegen from long range .
Pirlo 6
Unable to impose himself on games. One of the big differences between the two sides is that Xavi no longer gets in Barca’s team but Pirlo remains first choice.

Juventus striker Morata capped an impressive display with a second-half equaliser
Pogba 6
Disappointed on the big stage against the team he would like to play for when he leaves Juventus
Vidal 6
Hot-headed in the first half. Juventus committed 15 fouls in the first half and the booked Chilean was responsible for many of those.
Tevez 6
Another who looked off the pace. The club’s top scorer this season never seemed to threaten Pique and Mascherano.
Morata 8
Juventus’ liveliest attacker always prepared to run into the space left by Jordi Alba and scored the equaliser in the second half.

Vidal was fortunate not to see red as the Juventus midfielder was guilty of a series of rash fouls
