Andrea Pirlo will meet with officials from Sydney on Tuesday as the 36-year-old Juventus star considers his next move after defeat by Barcelona in the Champions League final, according to reports in Australia.
The 113-cap Italian international has one year left on his contract with the Italian champions and has been linked with a move to Major League Soccer and New York City this summer.
But an Australian-based agent says that if Pirlo wants to leave Turin he hopes to convince the legendary midfielder to choose Down Under ahead of the Big Apple.

Sydney are searching for a new marquee player after the departures of Austrian striker Marc Janko and club player of the year midfielder Milos Dimitrijevic, and Pirlo would certainly fit the bill.
‘My project here in Italy is clear,’ agent Lou Sticca said. ‘If Andrea decides to leave Italy for other markets and other leagues – and I will move only in this case – I feel it is my duty to plant the seed to get him to Australia.’
Pirlo would be following in the footsteps of Juve legend Alessandro Del Piero, who moved to Sydney after the conclusion of his career in Italy in 2012, and Sticca hopes that Pirlo’s experiences of Australia on a pre-season tour last year will further convince Pirlo.
‘Everyone knows that New York is an option,’ he told TuttoMercatoWeb. ‘But I’m here to put Australia forward for consideration. What gives me hope is that he was in Australia with Juventus in 2014 and has already seen the nation.
‘Del Piero, for Australian football, was the biggest. Andrea could be bigger still.’
