Allegri return discussions begin as Pirlo’s Juventus tenure could be coming to an end

Juventus fatigue to blame

It’s looked to be continual trouble of late for Juventus after being eliminated from The Champions League thanks to a Porto victory and a shock loss in Serie A to Benevento. Followed by the Turin derby ending in a stalemate thanks to a 79th minute Cristiano Ronaldo equaliser.

Head coach Andrea Pirlo said that he was ‘not happy’ with his side at present but reiterated the fact it was hard work that was needed from his side for things to improve.

“Obviously I’m not happy when we don’t win and we’re dropping lots of points. We have to work hard on occupying the space better and finding more options between the lines,” he said.

However, there was an element of excuse seeping into the Italian’s explanation for the defeat, blaming tiredness.

“We’ve played lots of games so it’s natural for a bit of fatigue to creep in but we can’t let that happen,” said Pirlo.

Pirlo’s time ending

Due to the defeat, Juventus now sit in fourth position and on the same amount of points as fifth placed Napoli. There is all the possibility in the world now that Juventus could even miss out on Champions League football next season.

Expectantly this has led to suggestions that Andrea Pirlo could be sacked as the Turin-based club’s boss and there are reports emerging from Italian Media that former manager Massimiliano Allegri could return.

Tuttosport journalist Guido Vaciago claims ‘discussions’ have been had of a dramatic return of the former Juve and AC Milan boss to help the club secure fourth.

10 games remain in  Serie A and Juve play Napoli on Wednesday which could be a decider in the race for the top 4. They also must play Atalanta, Sassuolo, Milan and Inter Milan before the end of the campaign.
