Agent of Liverpool star Mo Salah takes to Twitter to shut down former coach’s Real Madrid claims

Mohamed Salah’s agent last night moved to shut down claims that the Liverpool star considered an offer from Real Madrid less than a year after making the move to Anfield.

Liverpool standout

Egyptian attacker Salah has been on Liverpool’s books for just shy of 3 years now.

Following a lengthy saga, the Reds finally clinched a then-club-record deal with the potential to rise to just shy of £44 million in the summer of 2017.

And to say that this has since proven money well spent would be an understatement.

Salah has gone on to establish himself as one of world football’s most feared attackers during his time on Merseyside, forming one third of Liverpool’s lethal trident alongside Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Across 144 appearances in the colours of the Reds, the 27-year-old has racked up a hugely-impressive 91 goals.

Crucially, such goalscoring feats have proven central to the success enjoyed by Jurgen Klopp’s men over the last couple of seasons, with Liverpool having clinched Champions League glory in 2018/19, and utterly dominated the Premier League title race this time around.

Real Madrid rumours shut down

As outlined above, though, recent claims on the part of one of Salah’s former coaches suggested that the African wide-man was handed the opportunity to depart Merseyside on the back of just one season on Liverpool’s books.

Speaking over the weekend, Hani Ramzy, who previously formed part of the Egyptian national team’s coaching setup, suggested that late in the 2017/18 campaign, Salah was sent a proposal by La Liga giants Real Madrid, which the 27-year-old subsequently decided against accepting:

‘When I was working with Hector Cuper, we had a training camp in Switzerland [in March 2018],’ Ramzy explained during an interview with OnTime Sports.

‘I was talking to Salah and he told me that Real Madrid had sent him an offer.’

‘The offer was really good, but Salah discussed it with me and Mr Cuper, and he decided to stay with Liverpool because he was comfortable there.’

The existence of such a conversation, however, has since been definitively shut down by Salah’s agent.

Taking to Twitter last night, Ramy Abbas posted a simple yet effective message, assuring that his client never held discussions over his future with a former coach:
