Agent of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil provides update on future/Hints at 2021 exit

Erkut Sogut, the agent of Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, has today spoken out over the future of his client, amid persistent links between the German international and Turkish giants Fenerbahce.

Ozil’s exit links

Speculation surrounding Gunners midfielder Ozil has reemerged in force over recent months.

Amid another largely-disappointing campaign to this point, during which the 31-year-old has often struggled for form, question marks have begun to crop back up regarding a potential summer exit from the Emirates.

Despite Ozil having established himself as first-choice since the appointment of Mikel Arteta, he has, to this point in the campaign, managed just a solitary goal and 2 assists across 18 Premier League starts.

This is the type of return that has led to large sections of Arsenal’s fans doubling down on their calls for their side’s no. 10 to be moved on.

On-loan Gunners midfielder Mohamed Elneny, meanwhile, recently tipped Ozil to follow him to Turkey, with Fenerbahce:

‘Mesut really loves Fenerbahce. He’s always speaking about the club and the fans.’

‘If you ask me, I think he could come to Fenerbahce.’

‘Never know…’

And, if the latest comments on the part of the 31-year-old’s agent are anything to go by, then Ozil’s future could yet lie away from the Emirates.

Speaking in an interview with Goal earlier today, Erkut Sogut admitted that, as part of the modern footballing landscape, a transfer for any player simply cannot be ruled out:

‘You never know in football. First of all, you can never predict the movement of players.’

Sogut, however, was also quick to follow up by assuring that Ozil remains ‘happy’ in north London, and that any move is unlikely to come to fruition before the expiration of his contract in 2021:

‘I have said it before and I am saying it again that he (Ozil) is really happy where he is at Arsenal. He still has a contract to go and there is no change.’

‘We will see what the future holds when the contract ends but for now, there is nothing I can say.’
