After Manchester City loss, fans tip Everton’s Rafa Benitez for the sack

Everton downed by Manchester City

Everton would face a trip to Manchester City on Sunday afternoon.

The Toffees headed into the game on a dire run of form, which had seen them fail to win any of their previous five Premier League ties.

And, when all was said and done at the Etihad, Everton’s poor run continued. The Merseysiders never really looked like getting anything out of the game, and would eventually be put to the sword by three goals to nil.

Raheem Sterling opened the scoring in the first 45 after getting on the end of a lofted pass from the in-form Joao Cancelo:

Rodri then doubled City’s lead with a thunderbolt of a strike before Bernardo Silva added a 3rd 85 minutes in to ensure that the Manchester outfit earned all three points.

Benitez set for the sack?

The result, in turn, saw Man City climb back up to 2nd in the Premier League, and left Everton languishing down in 11th with just 15 points amassed from 12 outings.

Of course, Rafa Benitez has had to deal with some horrible injury luck, which has seen Richarlison, Seamus Coleman, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Abdoulaye Doucoure face spells on the sidelines already this season, whilst Demarai Gray joined the walking wounded with a fresh issue on Sunday.

Despite this, though, fans are evidently not too keen to give Benitez a pass, and are now taking to Twitter to tip the Spaniard for the sack, with just some of the post-match reaction showcased below:
