The fallout stemming from the Milan derby has continued on Monday, after the AC Milan faithful took fresh aim at Hakan Calhanoglu, with an altogether explicit public message.
Stefano Pioli’s men were of course back in 24 hours ago.
In the latest edition of one of world football’s most historic derbies, AC Milan and Internazionale went head-to-head at the San Siro, in a Serie A showdown.
The former headed into proceedings boasting the advantage in the Italian top-flight table, aware that a victory would guide them clear of Napoli to the division’s summit.
When all was said and done on Sunday, however, the Rossoneri were ultimately forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
It was Inter who opened the game’s scoring early on, when Hakan Calhanoglu dusted himself down to slot home from the penalty spot, after it was adjudged that he had been felled by Franck Kessie in the hosts’ area:

Milan, though, quickly hit back, as Sandro Tonali’s inviting set-piece delivery was directed into his own net by Stefan de Vrij:

From here, the two sides exchanged chances, with Inter having fluffed a 2nd spot-kick opportunity through Lautaro Martinez, before Milan came within a whisker of a late winner when Alexis Saelemaekers rattled the post from distance.
Upon the final-whistle sounding, though, an all-important winner had not been found.
Rossonero take aim
In the game’s aftermath, as alluded to above, it is not the pulsating back-and-forth on the pitch on Sunday which has grabbed the majority of the headlines in the city of Milan, however.
Instead, this honour has been reserved for one player in particular…
The man in question? Hakan Calhanoglu.
Turkish midfielder Calhanoglu became the latest player to cross the Milan divide earlier this summer, when he opted to swap red for blue, after allowing his contract with AC Milan to expire.
In turn, after finding the net on Sunday, attentions swiftly turned towards whether or not the 27-year-old would opt to celebrate.
In the end, he did, not only embarking on a knee slide, but then cupping his ears in front of the Rossoneri support, in a clear show of disrespect towards his former employers.
Milan’s supporters have since been quick to take aim at their one-time midfield spearhead as a result, with a flood of less-than-PG messages having been directed towards Calhanoglu on social media last night.
Upon the ex-Bayer Leverkusen man continuing to add fuel to the fire via his official Instagram account on Monday, it was therefore always likely that the Milan faithful would not be shy in hitting back…
And, this evening, those loyal to the red half of the Milanese divide have done exactly that…
In an altogether explicit banner hung in the city, AC Milan’s supporters have sent a message to Calhanoglu which can only be described as ruthless, alluding to the midfielder’s public divorce case from early in his career:
