Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has moved to allay concerns about the severity of his latest injury set-back and revealed that he will miss just six weeks of action.
The 31-year-old Slovakia international had to be substituted in the Reds’ 3-0 defeat by Watford in the Premier League on Sunday after suffering a hamstring tear.
Skrtel was widely expected to be on the sidelines for at least three months, but has since given fans a boost with this news, which he shared in a rather novel way.

Skrtel posted a picture of a lion alongside the words, ‘You never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice’, on his official Instagram account.
In the image’s caption, the centre back elaborated: ‘After all rumours going around, I want to say the time I will spend on sidelines won’t be three months…after I suffered tear in my hamstring and tendon I will be out for six weeks.’
Skrtel added: ‘I will work hard on my recovery and will do everything to come back as soon as possible and even stronger than before! thanks for your support.’
Liverpool’s defeat at Vicarage Road was their second in their last three Premier League games, drawing the other 2-2 at home to West Brom.
The Merseysiders are currently ninth in the table with 24 points, five off the pace of fourth-placed Tottenham.
