Carlo Ancelotti may be the new manager of Bayern Munich – but it has emerged that the Italian has not always been keen on the German club.
Ancelotti was announced as the replacement for Pep Guardiola, who confirmed on Sunday that he will leave Bayern when his three-year contract ends.
But only two months ago, 56-year-old Italian Ancelotti confessed that he did not enjoy watching the club’s Bundesliga matches because of the lack of competition.

Ancelotti told La Gazzetta dello Sport: ‘Bayern will win the Bundesliga without even taking their hands out their pockets.
‘I must confess that I cannot enjoy Bayern’s games. There is simply too little real competition.’
Ancelotti – a former manager of Chelsea, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Milan – has signed a three-year-deal with Bayern and will take up his new job next summer.
He said: ‘I am very honoured that I will be the coach of the big FC Bayern Munich from next season.
‘When I knew of the club’s interest I didn’t want to consider any other offer.
‘I honestly wish FC Bayern Munich and my friend Pep Guardiola the best for the current season.

Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge (left) hailed Ancelotti’s past success
‘I wish a merry and peaceful Christmas and a happy new year to all Bayern fans and to all of you.’
Bayern chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said: ‘Carlo Ancelotti has enjoyed success as a coach everywhere and has won the Champions League three times.
‘Carlo is a quiet, balanced professional who knows how to deal with stars and play a game with a lot of variety. That is what we were looking for and that is what we found.’
