1. Always Have a Notebook on Hand

Many times when an idea hits, it’s usually out of nowhere. You could be in your vehicle, headed to work or in the shower, when all of a sudden, it hits. Much of your battle is going to come up with your topic. This is why you need to consider having a pocket notebook with you wherever you are.

While it seems a bit old, pen and paper really are handy. Of course, if you’d rather use an electronic, there are several worthwhile apps to consider:

  • Apple Notes: Your iPhone offers this free standard notepad that will sync to a desktop Mac.
  • Evernote: This app you can find on both the desktop and smartphone. And, anything that gets typed into the phone is also transferred to the computer. The same goes for the computer to the phone.
  • Springpad: This app is ideal for note taking with various multimedia. If you want a picture, video or verbal notes, this is what you need to get.

You don’t have to write every day. And, you may not feel like it. That’s okay. Write when the mood strikes.

2. Don’t Write Your Introduction First

You may think that writing an article works best if you create the introduction. After all, it’s what sets the article up. However, writing the article first then your introduction helps to develop an eye-appealing, mind-boggling intro to go along with the rest of the article. Special Note: If you’re not sure what you’ll be writing about, how is an introduction going to captivate your audience?

3. Forget the Advanced High School Teachings

Yes, you need to remember the spelling, grammar, and citing the sources, but there’s no reason to spend hours trying to correct it. How come? Internet readers tend not to have a long attention span. Therefore, you want an article that’s written as you speak. Follow grammar spoken rules to write your material.

Need an example? Consider this then:

  • Traditional Writing: Carrie is going to the grocery store because hamburger meat is one sale
  • Web Writing: Carrie is headed to the store, hamburger meat is on sale

The difference is slightly noticeable, but it’s clear the web writing is better.

4. Make Use of Pictures and Other Images

Words are good but boring. With that in mind, consider adding in pictures, in place of writing. The idea is to let the pictures tell the article (story). This saves you a plethora of time that writing can take up and is ideal for people who skim articles or are reading by smartphone or tablet.

5. Just Start Writing

Procrastination is an ugly word. When it comes to writing, you just need to get things done. Consider setting some time aside to start writing. If you wake up at a particular time but don’t do much, this may be the best time to write. Your mind, although just waking up, is fresh. Turn on your music and let the words flow right out of you. Don’t worry about editing. That can be completed at another time. Just focus on the writing and putting your ideas down.

6. Use Outsourcing When Necessary

Many people think negatively about outsourcing their content marketing strategy low quality, cheap labor. However, it’s not like that anymore. You want your audience to be moved by the writing to solve a problem they have. If you’re in a rush or don’t like to write, it’s going to come across in your writing. Or, if you don’t have time to do this yourself, you can hire a professional freelancer to do this for you.

There are always high-quality writers and consultants willing to help you. While a majority of them won’t publicize their work, most will help you for a small fee.
