Nile Ranger has had his £60,000 Mercedes turned to wreckage after sharing footage of it on fire in the street.

The 24-year-old, who is currently contracted at Blackpool, uploaded a video to Instagram early on Monday of his car in flames with the alarms going off, before posting a picture of the vehicle after the blaze.

It is not known if anyone set fire to the car, but Ranger believes he has been targeted, blaming ‘haters’.

RANGER: A CAREER ON THE SLIDE

Newcastle 2008-13: 62 games, 3 goals

Barnsley (loan) Nov-Dec 11: 5, 0

Sheffield Wed (loan) March-May 12: 8, 2

Swindon 2013-14: 28, 10

Blackpool 2014-present: 14, 2

‘Who would do such a thing #Haters #insurance #thanksmate,’ Ranger wrote as a caption alongside the video of his car ablaze.

Next to the image of the car after the fire had stopped,  Ranger wrote: ‘LOL what a f****.’

Ranger was known for having ‘Power Ranger’ inscribed on of the doors of the car.

He has not played for Blackpool since November 2014 and has been involved in a number of serious incidents away from the football pitch throughout his career.

During his time playing for Swindon, he was found not guilty of a rape charge dating back to when he was at Newcastle.

The striker has also been caught on camera breaking down the front door to his own flat and violently confronting a woman, also during his Swindon tenure.

The incidents continue to date back to when he was a youth player at Southampton.

He was made to serve 11 weeks in a young offender institution after being involved in an armed robbery while at the Saints aged just 15. They eventually sacked him for stealing kit.

In September this year, Ranger made a public apology for his behaviour at previous clubs and insisted he was ready to set a better example.

‘I just want to take the time out to write this post as I feel like I need to get this of (sic) my chest.. I have seen 2 of my good friends pass away in a short space of time… Whilst over coming this it has made me realise life really is to (sic) short and have really been taking things for granted,’ Ranger wrote.

‘I would like to use this opportunity to thank, Southampton, Newcastle, Swindon and Blackpool for giving me the chance to experience the dream of being a professional footballer.

‘To add to this I would like to apologise to every one at these clubs, including management, players, staff and fans. I should have given more and been a better role model.’
