Pedro has informed Barcelona he wants to leave this summer as he bids to force through a move to Manchester United.

The Catalan side’s sporting director Robert Fernandez was speaking ahead of the UEFA Super Cup final when he revealed Pedro’s request.

‘Pedro has told me that he wants to leave,’ he said on Spanish television. ‘Right now there is nothing [no offers].’

Although United have not yet made a bid for the forward, they are deep in negotiations with Barcelona over a deal.

Louis van Gaal would like to bring the Canary Islander to Old Trafford to replace Angel di Maria, who has signed for Paris Saint-Germain.

However, to do so Barcelona are intent on making the English side pay the full £22million which represents Pedro’s buy-out clause.

And according to Marca in Spain, United could face competition to land the attacker in the form of neighbours Manchester City.

Fernandez said, ahead of Tuesday night’s clash with Sevilla: ‘Pedro’s clause is not neogtiable, but this could be his last game.’

Luis Enrique dropped the forward to the bench for the clash, even though he was touted to replace Neymar in the forward line.

The Brazilian has mumps and instead of Pedro, his compatriot Rafinha has been selected to join Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi as Barcelona bid for the fourth trophy of a potential sextuple.

Pedro was among the substitutes for the clash at the Boris Paichadze Stadium, in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Barcelona’s manager had said before the game that Pedro’s transfer situation wouldn’t be an influence on his selection, but it seems he changed his mind.
