Brazil manager Dunga has risked the wrath of both Neymar and the fans after leaving the Barcelona attacker on the bench for the second game in succession.

The 23-year-old came off the bench to score his 45th international goal, slotting past Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan against the USA.

But Neymar, who was restricted to a 10-minute cameo in Brazil’s recent win against Costa Rica, may not have been best pleased to have been left sitting on the bench again – especially having pre-warned boss Dunga that he would not tolerate being benched for the national team.

However, Dunga appeared to have ignored Neymar’s comments after naming the 23-year-old among the substitutes on Wednesday morning ahead of Brazil’s friendly with America.

‘Being benched is not something I’m used to and I’m not willing to get used to it,’ Neymar told ESPN Brasil. ‘I want to play and I’m always working to be among the starting XI.’

Being excluded from the starting XI for the second game in a row will be particularly galling for Neymar because of his impending suspension.

The former Santos man will be suspended for the next two competitive games following his red card in Brazil’s match with Colombia at the Copa America.

And the fans in America will also be less than impressed, with some paying up to $750 (£480) for a ticket for the clash.
