• Chelsea first-team doctor Eva Carneiro was dropped from the Blues’ bench
  • She has been replaced by Academy doctor Chris Hughes for matchdays
  • Carneiro riled manager Jose Mourinho by rushing to the aid of Eden Hazard in the 2-2 draw against Swansea at Stamford Bridge on August 9
  • She will no longer attend training sessions, games or enter the team hotel

After being acrimoniously dropped by Jose Mourinho following her decision to run onto the pitch while a player was down injured for Chelsea, Eva Carneiro has been keeping a low profile.

But the former Blues first-team doctor has now been pictured for the first time since the fallout, smiling while walking her Beagle dog in the park with a friend. The top sports doctor looked relaxed as she arrived at a parkland in Surrey in an Audi 4×4, before taking the pet for a walk.

Carneiro and physiotherapist Jon Fearn have had their matchday duties revoked for their role in the incident on the opening day of the season against Swansea City at Stamford Bridge, which resulted in Mourinho labelling the pair naive for leaving his side a man down.

EVA HAS PLENTY OF SUPPORT

Australia cricket team doctor Peter Brukner: ‘I thought it was appalling behaviour by the manager.

‘What do you expect the doctor to do? Just ignore the referee beckoning them on?

‘The medical staff deserve a public apology.’

Football Medical Association CEO Eamonn Salmon: ‘The FMA fully supports the actions of our members and colleagues in this incident who acted with integrity and professionalism at all times. Factors extraneous to the immediate medical needs of the patient (such as the stage and state of the game) cannot be part of their consideration at such time.’

Match of the Day host Gary Lineker: ‘Might apply for the Chelsea doctor’s job given the applicant must understand football.

‘Not sure if any medical knowledge is required.’

Replacements Chris Hughes and Steven Hughes took to the dugout for the first time against Manchester City.

Consultant in sport and exercise medicine Chris, who was promoted from Academy doctor, and former on-loan player physio, Steven Hughes have been alongside Mourinho for each of the subsequent games.

Mourinho was livid with Carneiro and Fearn after they went to assist Hazard against Swansea, even though they appeared to be gestured onto the pitch by referee Michael Oliver, because medical treatment meant that the 24-year-old had to leave the field of play, and the Premier League champions were already down to 10 men due to a red card for goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

The Portuguese manager consequently revised the roles of Carneiro and Fearn much to the public’s dismay and many Chelsea fans’ embarrassment.

Mourinho has resisted all calls to reinstate Carneiro despite the huge backlash over Chelsea’s treatment of her, and Sportsmail understands that it was not the first time the two had clashed.

After being informed that her role as the club’s first-team doctor was to be downgraded – she was told that she will no longer attend training sessions, games or enter the team hotel – Carneiro did not impress her employers at Stamford Bridge by thanking her supporters on Facebook.

Nevertheless, owner Roman Abramovich is said to be furious that Mourinho caused the controversy by criticising a senior employee on radio and television.
