‘I am delighted to be in the Premier League, the best league in the world, and can’t wait to meet my team-mates and get going,’ he added.

‘I am still at the beginning of my career but I believe this is the place to develop and learn from some of the best players in the world.’

Miazga joined the Red Bulls Academy in 2009 and signed his first professional contract four years later at the age of 17, debuting for the side soon after his 18th Birthday.

He established himself as a regular in the heart of a defence which helped the Red Bulls finish with the best regular-season record in North America in 2012, and he was an ever-present in the subsequent play-off campaign which ended with a narrow two-legged defeat to Columbus Crew in the Conference final.

After stand-out performances against New York City’s David Villa and Toronto’s Sebastian Giovinco last season, Miazga became regarded as one of the best defensive players in the MLS.

He has also sampled continental football at Red Bulls, appearing in the CONCACAF Champions League and made his debut for the USA national team last November.

He played one match for the Poland Under 18 team in 2012 but having represented the US at U20 and U23 level, he decided to pledge his allegiance to Jurgen Klinsmann’s Americans.
